The Top Two Empires Trade Blows
Published on January 12, 2004 By Theoden of Rohan In PC Gaming
Warfare between any two entities is devastating, but when two tremendous powers engage in hostilities the terror is incredible. The top empires in the Metaverse met on the battlefield over the last several days, exchanging massive attacks. The Fellowship of the Ring fell to second for the first time in ages, not once but twice! The aggressor, Special Forces, launched a major offensive dealing the Fellowship substantial losses before a counterattack regained the lost ground. Though this battle is just beginning, many in the Metaverse are certain that this signals a new era in the battle of supremacy. No longer can the commandos of SpecFor go unnoticed. At press time, the Fellowship of the Ring maintained it's first place standing, but only by the smallest of margins. It is thought that SpecFor is currently engaged in a mission which could tip the balance of power once again. However, warriors in the Fellowship have sworn to defend Ring space as long as possible. Overlord Greldon has met the enemy head-on and has proven himself quite powerful in the struggle. Though warriors on both sides of the battlefield have shown their strength, one must take notice of the Overlord Ginata el bohemio of Special Forces. Her incredible string of battles has placed her within grasp of a legendary accomplishment. She should reach one million points within the next day or so! An astonishing feat to say the least! The Metaverse Review would like to compliment Ginata on her dedication.

While combat continues between the Fellowship and SpecFor, peace has been officially declared between the Jedi Republic and European Alliance. After a week of deliberation in the Euro Senate, the Euros finally accepted the peace treaty presented to them by the Jedi diplomats. This treaty brings to a close a bloody and ugly saga between the two powers and citizens from both empires were very glad to see the war end. Upon announcement of the peace accord, citizens from all over the Metaverse began celebrating wildly. A weekend party at the Prancing Pony in Fellowship territory ended in several overlords nursing serious hangovers.

One overlord has had several changes occur in the past week. Spellforce, formerly known as Lord Megatron, was given a promotion to Prime Minister and put in charge of Mods and the Galactic Library. Prime Minister Spellforce also disbanded Mod Masters to form a new empire, the Diplomats. He was also given the task by Stardock of heading up the creation of new medals to be used in the Metaverse. These whirlwind changes caught the Metaverse by surprise but everyone feels Spellforce was very deserving of his new honor and wish him the best in his new challenges!

A new empire has also sprung up, headed by J.T. Qwerk. Star Fleet empire was formed by the former Smeagol (Bluesteel) in an effort to have a fun and vibrant empire dedicated to Star Trek fans. Upon asking for recruits, Qwerk welcomed the former hut101 of CDG into his empire. hut101 promptly changed his name to Mr. Spook. This new empire has a great start and the Metaverse looks forward to seeing the stories and conversation which come out of this new empire.

Realms Beyond has been streaking up the standings of the Metaverse recently and now stands at sixth place, although they are engaged in a struggle with the Canadian Star Federation. The Undead, as the Canadians are known as, have shown they still are active and a force to be reckoned with by putting up some serious resistance to Realms Beyond. Though they have so far maintained a rather amicable war, the hostilites are sure to put a strain on relations.

Two pirates have returned from extensive shore leave and are now planning to contribute to the rise of G.R.O.S.S. EBZero Matrix and KitWarrior have began a campaign of recruitment and propaganda in hopes of pushing the pirate horde to new heights. A new website for the bucanneers along with the much-anticipated GCCG(II) have spawned new interest in G.R.O.S.S. and several overlords have began submitting games again. Though G.R.O.S.S. is now at ninth place, their history has proven they could easily charge up the ranks quickly. ANZAC Imperium guards have been put on alert, though they have yet to set their beers down to go to their stations.

Logo mania has spread wildly across the Metaverse, as several empires have swapped logos recently. Among those with new looks on their flags are Special Forces, Evil Empire, Empire of The Light, and The United Benzoians.

This selfish modmaker was hoping that he would be mentioned, but oh well, you get an insightful rating anyways .
