The empires keep pace with each other
Published on November 24, 2003 By Theoden of Rohan In PC Gaming
Over the weekend, nothing happened. This is not to say that there was nothing that occured, merely that no astonishing changes occured which would lead the Metaverse to shudder and quake. It appears that the empires of the Metaverse have found some balance and have maintained status quo for the past couple of days. Upon further reflection, there were a couple of notable changes which did happen over the weekend.

First, the Special Forces empire, which currently resides in second place overall, once again decided to change it's Imperial Seal. Dropping the military chevrons they had used for a while, Emperor Wild Wombat declared that Special Forces would be under the banner of...a rose. Yes, the deadly commandos of Special Forces now fight under the banner of a flower. Commenting on this event, Theoden of Rohan from the Fellowship of the Ring Empire said "What's next? The Evil Empire changing their logo to a little puppy dog?"

In related news, the Evil Empire has been busy in their lair. Now consisting of 15 evil-doers, the evil ones are now very close to one million points. This milestone is feared by many as the Evil Empire will be sure to celebrate their achievement with some terrible attrocity. Reports from Torian space indicate that the Torian government is mandating a curfew, hoping to curb the mass genocide which is sure to occur in their space. It is a popular Evil Empire custom to sacrifice Torians in mass slaughter after particularly good things happen to them, such as a military victory or dinner being served. Torian slaves have a very low lifespan in any event. Meanwhile, the Evil Empire is striving to overtake the pirate horde of G.R.O.S.S. for seventh place. The Evil Empire has recently launched an excellent website which can be accessed at this link.

Emperor PontiusBruinPilot has sounded the battle cry urging all pirates to fight on in defense of their position. Though several of their bucanneers are engaged in the Hobbit Toss, it is thought some pirates are readying their cutlasses for the fight. Regarding the Hobbit Toss, several overlords from outside empires have signed up to try their hand at the annual halfling sling. Most hobbits have tried to stay out of sight until the end of this terrible event. Though there have been some rumors that the editor-in-chief of the Metaverse Review was a victim of tossing, Theoden of Rohan adamantly denies this, saying "Pontius said what? Well, let him try to give me a toss...we'll see how he likes the taste of cold steel."

The Weekly Spotlight Empire is the Mid-Western Confederation. This has been a constant power in the Metaverse and currently stands at fourth place overall. Ordinarily, the Metaverse Review does not consider any empire in the Top 5 for the Weekly Spotlight, but with the parity within the Metaverse, exceptions have to be made. The Mid-Western Confederation has a storied history and has been led by the very capable Emperor surther. Managing to stay competitive through long bouts of inactivity, long rumored to be caused by college football and farming, the MWC continues to battle hard. If you are interested in joining this empire, visit their website at this link or their empire site at this link.
