Competition Increases in the Metaverse
Published on September 11, 2003 By Theoden of Rohan In PC Gaming
The top two empires in the Metaverse continue to slug it out in an all-out war. Though this war has gone relatively unnoticed in the past couple of weeks, the two juggernauts battle daily. Though it appears the Fellowship has a solid lead in this war, the pirates of G.R.O.S.S. have been busy recruiting and submitting games. One of the pirates who sails the Southern Seas, Wild Wombat, has been especially busy in battle, and has managed to move into the second place spot, directly behind the Fellowship's leader Ray the Wanderer. Could it be possible that the furry bucanneer might overtake the mighty Ray and snatch the first place medal from his chest? The Metaverse looks on with interest.

In a sudden change of loyalty, Rainbird decided not to honor the merger between ANZAC and the Australian Republic. Rainbird, who is commonly referred to as the Empress of Evil, has joined the Evil Empire. A spokesman for the ANZAC Republic was quoted as saying, "rainbird, wassup?" There was no immediate reply from Rainbird, but apparently she did purr when confronted by Ray the Wanderer.

The war between the ANZAC Republic and the European Alliance continues to rage, with the ANZAC Republic not gaining any new ground despite repeated assaults. It appears the European Alliance has awakened and has rushed defenses in.

Apolyton has also shown some signs of reawakening and gave themselves some breathing room from the Evil Empire. The Evil Empire's push has landed them in tenth overall, and they seem dedicated to overtaking the very quiet Gamma Squad.

The PanGaea Cooperative has moved into the Top 25 and now seems to be interested in moving up in galactic position. This partying anarchist empire should be watched closely.

All overlords are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Precursor ship which contains an artifact of great power, the Expansion Pack. It is said that this artifact will greatly improve the gameplay of Galactic Civilizations and may add new interest to the game. At last report, the Precursor ship was spotted outside the Vizzard system and should arrive on Human Calendar September 16th. For those Drengin who are awaiting the XPack, it will arrive Drengin Calendar Harjj 2256th cycle. The Yor, Torians, and Arceans will have to wait a little longer for the release, as they are relatively stupid and don't have a real concept of time. It is advised that all overlords destroy at least one of these Empire's ships to put them out of their own misery.

Finally, the arrival of the Galactic Civilizations Fan Fiction site has stirred much interest in the Metaverse. The site, named War of the Worlds (after a story contained therein), is located here. It is advised that any overlords with ideas of great stories should visit and share your work for the enjoyment of the community. It is the hope of the Metaverse Review that this site does well. Many thanks go out to all who were involved in it's development!

It's hard to say whether that is GalCiv2 work or if it's Stellar Frontier work. But it is very interesting to see what they're up to!

Thanks for the compliment, by the way!
