Many reporters have gathered at the main palace of the European Alliance as an event of epic proportions took place today. In a ceremony which could only rival a Royal Wedding in London, Impune_Lacessit handed over his crown to the new Emperor of the European Alliance, G-Force.
In this most noble of gestures, the leadership of the Euros transferred flawlessly as the many invited guests gathered to witness the coronation ceremony.
It is rumored that the European Alliance Crown is worth many millions of Euros, but since nobody knows what a Euro is worth, they just agree it's really valuable. Fears of a G.R.O.S.S. prank led to higher than normal security, but could not stop a large portrait of G-Force being transposed onto a painting of Kathy Ireland in a swimsuit. Apparently, the pirates had replaced the body of G-Force with the lovely swimsuit model's. Instead of removing the defaced portrait, an aide cut the face off of the painting and left the body of Kathy Ireland on display, which seemed to please the crowd. No further pirate annoyances were reported, though the Euros are continuing to watch for any activity by anyone who walks with a limp and mutters "Arrrgh" under their alcohol laced breath.
The Metaverse Review would like to congratulate G-Force on his coronation and wish him the best as the official Emperor of the European Alliance. We would also like to wish good luck on Impune_Lacessit in whatever pursuits he decides to follow in his retirement.
Ray the Wanderer became the first player in the Metaverse to surpass the 300,000 point mark. His quest for Fleet Admiral should end in the next game or two as his player profile score will surpass 300,000 points then. Cotal's valiant effort to catch Ray fell just a bit short, but Cotal is expected to continue her pursuit of first place.
Twenty-four of the Top Twenty-Five overlords in the Metaverse now have over 100,000 points. This reporter thinks back on Ray the Wanderer's quest for 100,000 points and wonders how soon it will be until a player has 1,000,000 points individually. It could be sooner than we all think.
In empire news, the Top 6 empires now have over 1,000,000 points! Congratulations to the Canadian Star Federation for this outstanding achievement. When asked for a quote, one Canadian overlord replied "Wow I feel all tingly." The Canadian Star Federation should watch out, though, as The Jedi Republic has almost caught them for sixth. It is possible The Jedi Republic could break 1,000,000 points sometime this week.
The ANZAC Republic remains close behind the Mid-Western Confederation in their battle for third, but the ANZACs should not forget about the newly re-energized Europeans who are fighting for fourth. The Fellowship of the Ring has broken 2,000,000 points! Wild celebrations are going on throughout the Shire and surrounding lands as drunken wizards and bards laugh and turn unsuspecting rodents into dancing girls.
This week's Weekly Spotlight Empire is the PanGaea Cooperative, who have fought their way to 23rd place. They are currently embroiled in battle with Fat Bastard and Fnord. The PanGaea Cooperative is an empire which was only formed a short time ago, but which is very active in the forums. Their pleasure palaces and anarchistic lifestyle leads many conservative groups to criticize them, but the citizens of PanGaea Cooperative are too busy partying to care what they say.
