A wish of world peace can often be heard during this time of year. It is very seldom found, however. Most combatants engaged in battle will admit that holidays are great excuses for attack. But attempts are being made all over the Metaverse to bring about a temporary peace through the holiday season.
Good will toward men and season's greetings seem to be the feelings of the moment!
War preparations between Special Forces and the Fellowship of the Ring are being debated as peacemaker Ginata el bohemio urged each empire to respect holiday sentiments. Though the Fellowship Council is at odds over the intentions of Ginata, discussions are ongoing as to whether the war should proceed or be postponed through the coming holiday season. It is felt that Ginata, who is now a member of Special Forces and has recently experienced a drop in alignment, may be involved in the set up of a sneak attack on the Fellowship territories. Reports from sources close to the Fellowship Council say the vote now stands at 3 votes for war and 0 against, with 2 Councilmembers remaining to vote. However, with the peace negotiations commenced by Ginata, it is felt that at least one vote could be leaning toward peaceful resolution, at least for the moment.
Christmas tidings are also leading to a plea of peace from the Jedi Republic. The Jedi declared war on the European Alliance and have since lost third place to the Euros. This peace treaty has been suggested to remain valid through the holidays, but it is unsure if this treaty request has actually been ratified in the Jedi Republic Senate. The are some sketchy reports that the offer of peace has been brought forth by an officer of some status within the Jedi Republic without any prior authorization. It is also thought that the Euros, now sensing blood in the water, are in a frenzy and might not agree to any such offer of peace, no matter what time of year. With the Euros charging hard, one wonders what reason there would be for a temporary treaty. It appears the European Alliance, having passed the Jedi Republic, have their eyes set on Special Forces and ultimately the Fellowship of the Ring.
A special congratulations goes out to the ANZAC Imperium. They have just passed the one million point mark! The top nine empires in the Metaverse now have one million points or more and it appears the 10th place empire, Realms Beyond, will surpass the one million point mark very soon. Congratulations to ANZAC Imperium and to Emperor Evil Steve for your accomplishment!
A tremendous milestone is nearing as the European Alliance is approaching 1000 battles fought. They would be the first empire to reach such heights and it appears very likely to happen soon. The Euros currently stand at 996 battles with their closest competitor at 968 battles (FOtR empire). With the largest group of overlords in the Metaverse, the Euros seem destined to surpass the 1000 battle mark within the next day.
It appears one of the most controversial pirates ever to walk the Metaverse is returning to battle. Senator EBZeroMatrix of G.R.O.S.S. has announced he plans on returning to battle very soon and will bring with him a new and improved Galactic Civilizations Cranking Guide (GCCG II). This exciting news has prompted stock in Kentucky Fried Drengin to double in active trading today. The return of the "Altarian Butcher" would signal a new era for the pirate horde and may bring them back into battle readiness. Currently, the pirates are engaged in battle with the Evil Empire and G.R.O.S.S. currently stands at eighth place overall. Emperor PontiusBruinPilot could not be reached for comment due to illness.
In the past, the Metaverse Review has spotlighted many empires, in hopes that they might get more recruits and more exposure. We have felt that it was in the best interests of the Metaverse to spotlight only those empires who were not in the Top 5, since they were the empires that needed the most help in rising to the top. It was also felt that empires that were "Invite Only" were to be exluded, as their qualifications for recruiting were limited and therefore advertising from the Metaverse Review would not matter. It would be fruitless to steer potential candidates to an "Invite Only" empire because though they might be interested, they might not receive an invitation to join. This feature will now be suspended from future Metaverse Review columns. There are no further empires outside of the Top 5 with Open membership qualifications and it is not the intention of the Metaverse Review to re-spotlight any empires. In the future, if any new empire springs forth and needs spotlighting, the Metaverse Review will feature a special report on them. Thank you for your continued support and readership.
