The top two empires in the Metaverse continue to slug it out in an all-out war. Though this war has gone relatively unnoticed in the past couple of weeks, the two juggernauts battle daily. Though it appears the Fellowship has a solid lead in this war, the pirates of G.R.O.S.S. have been busy recruiting and submitting games. One of the pirates who sails the Southern Seas, Wild Wombat, has been especially busy in battle, and has managed to move into the second place spot, directly behind the Fello...

As overlords struggle to find their niche in the new Metaverse, dramatic developments continue to occur. With the release of the Expansion Pack, the number of Masochistic players has risen to new heights, with some estimates showing a 300% increase in Maso players! Scoring has gotten so high that within the next few days (if not before), the Top 25 will consist entirely of 100,000 Metapoint overlords. There are already two 200,000 point players, with more coming. Empires are regularly hitting th...

There have been some comments lately about the scoring boost that Masochistic games have been given in the newest release. It seems many overlords are thinking the only way to compete within the Metaverse is to play Masochistic games. This is a flawed thought process, to say the least. By definition, the Masochistic difficulty level is very difficult. Though there are some players who have adopted some winning strategies, Maso difficulty was meant to be an almost unbeatable level. Many overlords...

The day has finally arrived! Many overlords waited anxiously all day for the XPack to be released, and though it took a bit longer than we all expected, everyone seems to be thrilled with it! The Galactic Civilizations Expansion Pack is the free expansion that has been promised by our good friends at Stardock. Those overlords who subscribed to Drengin.net were able to beta test the expansion for a couple of months, so some knew what to expect. But for those who couldn't subscribe to Drengin.n...

It has been said that silence can be deafening. The Metaverse has experienced a slowdown in activity of late, leading to some long periods of silence. There is an old adage that "no news is good news", but in the news business, the adage goes "no news means nothing to do". Though not much is being said in conversations, there are a few things going on that are newsworthy. There has been a slight increase in recruitment activity lately, probably due to the release of Galactic Civilizations in Eur...

The Jedi Republic has welcomed quite a few members lately and has improved to sixth place in the Metaverse, just ahead of the Canadian Star Federation. One major aquisition in particular is Mayito7777, who defected from the MWC. His disappearance has left MWC further back in their struggle to overtake G.R.O.S.S. for second, and has moved them further back in their quest for 2 million points. Realms Beyond is continuing to make noise in the Metaverse as the empire has taken 12th place. Their met...

What a long, strange trip it's been. This line from a famous Grateful Dead song sums up the Metaverse very well. Several empires whose presence in the Metaverse has almost been taken for granted have seen some huge changes. One of the biggest changes to take place has been the disappearance of the ANZAC Republic. This empire has been around for a long time, but has been shaken so many times by defections, that Emperor BlueSteel decided to disband the empire. The fate of the ANZAC Republic had b...

As everyone in the Metaverse knows, empiring is alive and well. Most players consider the Metaverse a retreat where reality takes a back seat and just for a little while, we take on a new persona. The lively discussions and lighthearted banter generated in the forums makes any visit a pleasure. And several of us have found friendship in the dealings we've had with the other overlords. It seems the Metaverse is the perfect (or at least as perfect as it can be) online gaming community. However, in...

Tremendous changes have occured today, as the ANZAC Republic vaulted to third place, knocking off the long time challenger Mid-Western Confederation. The ANZACs were helped in large part by the dread pirate CypherPax who is vacationing in ANZAC for a while. It is no secret that the pirates of G.R.O.S.S. hold the Mid-Westerners in very low regard, as the battles between the rival factions have been furious. But this development certainly must be construed as a prelude to all out war! CypherPax, ...

The only constant in this world is constant change, and the Metaverse is no different. Like a living being, the Metaverse undergoes change almost constantly. Even when you think something will remain the same for a while, eventually all things must change. The Metaverse was excited by the ascension of the ANZAC Republic's Cotal to first place in the individual standings. Her rise relegates former number one Ray the Wanderer to second place. Cotal's dedication and perserverance in playing Masoch...

Just as quickly as she departed the ANZAC Republic, Cotal rejoined after admitting her defection was actually an experiment to boost points for the ANZACs. Her return has prompted the ANZAC Republic to return to fourth place overall in the Metaverse standings, just behind the Mid-Western Confederation. Now that the ANZACs are mostly back to normal, they seem committed to moving up. They should beware of the European Alliance, however. The Euros haven't went away after the ANZACs dispatched them ...

The ANZAC Republic is desperately trying to recover from the sudden departure of two of their top overlords, Cotal and FriendJosh. The first to depart was Cotal, the number two overall scorer in the Metaverse. Cotal represented about 20% of the ANZAC Republic's total score while she was there and the mystery that surrounds her sudden defection has Emperor BlueSteel, along with the rest of the Metaverse, wondering what the reasons are. One witness to the defection was quoted as saying "What the...

Many reporters have gathered at the main palace of the European Alliance as an event of epic proportions took place today. In a ceremony which could only rival a Royal Wedding in London, Impune_Lacessit handed over his crown to the new Emperor of the European Alliance, G-Force. In this most noble of gestures, the leadership of the Euros transferred flawlessly as the many invited guests gathered to witness the coronation ceremony. It is rumored that the European Alliance Crown is worth many m...

Today, several members of the Fellowship of the Ring empire decided to have a little fun and drop the pirates of G.R.O.S.S. to fourth place in the Metaverse. With a little empire swapping, the pirates indeed dropped to fourth, but for a few moments, the MWC took on first place again! After the above snapshot was taken, the members of the Fellowship returned and everything returned to normal (or as close to normal as the Metaverse gets). Several witnesses to the joke were shocked at the cha...

The Metaverse has witnessed some strange events in the past several days. The number one player in the Metaverse has changed her name yet again and is now known as Forsooth! Cupids rarely miss . Formerly known as Cotal and Amidala, Forsooth! Cupids rarely miss has created her own empire, known as Serendipity. An Invite Only empire, Serendipity is now at eleventh place. Many have wondered what Cotal/Amidala/Forsooth!'s intentions have been. Though she hasn't communicated with anyone in several d...
